Mafia Definitive Edition modernizes the classic crime saga while retaining the open-ended exploration features fans loved about the original title. The Free Ride mode serves as a sandbox for players looking to step away from the linear story and discover hidden secrets scattered across Lost Heaven. By taking on secret side missions and tracking down rare collectibles, players can unlock unique vehicles, stylish outfits, and custom weaponry.
How to Access Free Ride and Secret Notes
Free Ride mode becomes available directly from the main menu after completing the first chapter of the campaign. To initiate the side missions, head to Salieri's Bar and examine the notes scattered across the office desks and tables. These notes provide cryptic clues that lead Tommy Angelo to phone booths located throughout the city to receive specific mission instructions.
Top Side Mission Locations and Challenges
The extra activities range from high-speed driving trials to bizarre survival scenarios spread across Lost Heaven. For instance, players will need to navigate speed-sensitive vehicles through tight city streets or defend key locations against waves of hostile enemies. Keeping up with daily gaming news can help players discover optimal routes and strategies for mastering these timed trials.
Exclusive Rewards and Vehicle Unlocks
Completing these hidden challenges yields some of the most unique items in the game. Successful players earn custom outfits like the Alien Suit and unlock prototype vehicles, such as the Crazy Horse hot rod and the Mutagen supercar. These rewards are permanently added to Tommy's garage and wardrobe for use anytime in Free Ride.
Exploring Collectibles and World Activities
Beyond structured phone booth tasks, Free Ride encourages thorough exploration of Lost Heaven's varied districts. Players can hunt down Cigarette Cards, Super Science Stories magazines, and hidden Golden Guns hidden in secluded alleys and buildings. Finding all these secrets provides a comprehensive look at the intricate detail 2K Games put into rebuilding this iconic setting.
